Michael:

FYI. I wrote those questions (#24 Community Impact) back at the beginning of this project as our Arundel RPC team was being formed. It was and is one of the topics that needs to be discussed as part of our due diligence.
Just recently the several questions and topics our Arundel team had come up with were integrated into a similar list that SAD71 had produced. The SAD71 Superintendent, Tom Farrell, attempted to answer these questions. Since the topic has not yet been addressed in any of our joint discussions with SAD71 and WOCSD, his reply 'UNABLE TO ANSWER AT THIS TIME' is appropriate.
By the way, WOCSD has also responded to the SAD71 list of questions as we try to better understand each other's school systems. The joint RSU57 meeting Monday night at ML Day was most helpful in this regard. A summary of the meeting will be covered tonight.
This will be an excellent topic to discuss further as part of the regular School Board meeting tonight.

This will be an ideal opportunity for all of you receiving this email to attend the School Board meeting tonight (Wed. Aug 8 @ 7) and get up to speed on the School Consolidation project status.

  Subject: [Schoolconsolidation] RPC Document

  Greetings Everyone,

Just a reminder the School Committee will be meeting tomorrow night at 7 pm. Tonight I was searching around and found this document at the SAD 71 website. I found a lot of this stuff was provided by the Arundel's RPC members through their updates. I would like to point out #24

  24. Community Impact
If schools are eventually closed after consolidation due to state and/or community taxpayer pressure, what are the potential community impacts? How can they best be ameliorated? Assuming the RSU recommends closure, what are the estimated incremental costs to Arundel of keeping M L Day open in 2009/10 and beyond? UNABLE TO ANSWER AT THIS TIME.

I'm not trying to stir the pot but if you wish to have a local school in town you may want to more closely examine the consolidation with SAD 71. In fairness I have provided the entire document for your review so you may read this reference within the context of the whole conversation.

  Michael
