Douglas,
You have said many false and disturbing things directed at current and
former members of the Arundel School System. Here is my response to all your
questions.
In your starting paragraph, you said you have attended many meetings. Then
you should remember who I am. But for some reason, I haven't heard you get
up and speak in front of the group. Why is that? This decision will impact
everyone now and in the future, you' re right, but I don't have all the
answers and to be honest, I believe some committee members are withholding
information to keep their biased position ahead in the voting. This includes
Dana Peck and Jack R.
Now for your questions:
1. Currently, Kenn H.S. students are in class with 5th and 6th graders to
help them with foreign language. Some TA M.S. students go to TA and are in
class there for math. So you are not in favor of this I take. Well I am and
I appreciate the fact that the schools recognize that some students can get
further ahead by pushing them up a class or grade. So why would you not be
in favor of this? Would you prefer leaving kids behind because others can't
keep up with them? You made a lousy point.
2. Sleep IS the responsibility of the parent. As far as the bus ride, my
kids are on the bus for 30 minutes. I'm not sure where you live but for me
and some others this isn't an issue. By the way, it takes 15 minutes to get
to TA, we use I-95.
3. If you are worried about the gas it takes to Saco. Wait to you get the
tax increase for all this consolidation. You will be paying alot more then
just gas. Try paying for new buildings.
4. I would like you to say this question in front of the teachers. After
they get done with you, you won't be able to vote. Have you ever attended
class at MLD? My guess is not. Are you from Mass? The town Selectmen have
voted down putting warrant articles on the ballet for the town to vote on to
improve conditions at the school. Maybe you should go to a Selectmen's
meeting and ask them that question. The Town never had a chance to vote to
put funds into the school.
5. Your website is for Public schools not Private ones. Therefore Comparing
Kenn to TA using that is a DON'T CARE. But I'm curious as to why in the
heading of that website it states that schools need to recertify every 5
years. It seems some are overdue for that in Kenn. Why?
6. Yes I did and why is none of yours or any one else's business.
7. I believe the economy will have the final and most impact on selling my
house. It's also called location, location, location. Real Estate 101
8. Interesting point. Maybe some of the 30 year vets can remember this part.
Arundel students needed to take a test before they were allowed into Kenn.
Only the top 10 students could take the test. Kennebunk has always treated
us as second class and never accepted us into their system. Until now, WHY?
Most of us know this answer already. There is a deep divide here and those
that went through it will never forget or allow their own kids to go through
it either.
9. When I went to college I wasn't asked to send in my elementary
transcripts. Yes, elementary school is important but not more then high
school. You can't really believe yourself do you?
I agree with Steve R. as I found your email in total disgust. See you at the
Oct 10 meeting.
